Natural World

Tromso, in Northern Norway, is a popular spot for travellers hoping to see the Aurora Borealis. 350 kilometres inside the Arctic Circle, the city experiences polar night between November and January. On a clear night, if the solar winds cooperate, the Northern Lights put on a spectacular display. Nighttime photography expeditions at minus-twenty degrees Celsius present many unique challenges. Below are some shots taken in, and around, Tromso in January 2020, as well as other nature photography from locations around Ireland.
